The block-sized plan set to be the next Hollywood home for Netflix (well, one of them) is about to be completed.
The 3.5-acre development, named the Academy on Vine, will include multiple buildings, including a 20-story tower with 193 residential units, plus office and retail space, all located on Sunset Boulevard just south of the ArcLight and Cinerama Dome.
Past developer projections from Kilroy Realty Corporation have linked the Academy on Vine Complex for completion in early 2020, and it looks like it is running on time.
On-site construction crews are busy occupying the entire block bounded by Vine Road, DeLongpre Avenue, Ivar Street, and Homewood Avenue. The tower’s façade seems to be completed around halfway.
Netflix signed a lease last year for all the available office space for the development—355,000 square feet across three buildings.
Academy on Vince’s office space is not the first to be rented by Netflix until construction is complete. In November, Developer Hudson Pacific Properties revealed that Netflix would also rent the entire 328,000-square-foot, 13-story epic building on Sunset Boulevard when it is complete in 2020.
Netflix will occupy over 1 million square feet in Hollywood when both buildings open. The business is already renting the famous blue and white, 14-story symbol building right off the 101 Freeway and 92,000 square feet of a neighboring building named Cue. Both buildings are owned by Hudson Pacific Properties on the Sunset Bronson property.
